Kate Sheppard - Excellence and Innovation

Kate Sheppard is an inspirational New Zealand suffragette who led the suffrage movement in New Zealand. In 1893 she showed resilience and excellence and innovation by winning women the right to vote. I chose her because she is a very strong women despite challenges that stood in her way.

Google Logo Game

Apart of our self management tasks we were instructed to play the google logo game. This game requires you to code so that the character is able to go to the party. It was not so easy for me because I don't really enjoy coding a game.

Teamwork - Leadership

Teamwork is an important quality that any leader must possess. Above is a DLO about what teamwork looks like at Panmure Bridge School and how we can use it around the classroom. The description at the bottom will inform you about the important message behind the photos. To take ownership is important to when being a leader. This poster is to hopefully remind you about what a team is and how little things can show qualities a leader needs. This was our activity for leadership this week.

Coordination - Maths

Today for maths we have been doing geometry. Maths is a subject I really dislike but it was fun drawing our dogs because it required drawing and a little bit of maths. When you have a grid like the one above always go from the bottom to the top. Example, if it asked me to go 4,7 I would find the four on the bottom line then find seven on the line going upwards. Ms Kirkpatrick calls this the ladder rule. I found this really challenging but I never gave up. I really enjoyed maths today because we had to draw and not use to much maths.

Tech Reflection

This year was the year 7's first time going to tech at Tamaki College. This year I did digital tech with Ms Anderson, food tech with Mrs Heka, and graphics with Miss Ferguson. They were all great but my favourite is food tech. In food tech we made some nice food and did some boring paper work. The first thing we made with Mrs Heka was an Oreo milkshake and the last thing we made was a moist chocolate log. They were both my favourite thing to make besides the pizza we made. With Ms Anderson we made a short animation of a problem that effects New Zealand, littering. This is a major problem in a lot of countries. With Ms Ferguson we learnt how the laser cutter and the 3d printer works. I have learnt many skills from these activities like how to use scratch, how to make chicken goujons and how to use a 3d printer. These were some of the many skills I learnt this year thanks to tech. Thank you Mrs Heka, Ms Anderson, and Miss Ferguson for an exciting time at tech this year.

Hazel's Visit - Summer Learning Journey 2017

On behalf of Rachel, Hazel came to our last weeks assembly to talk to us about the Summer Learning Journey 2017 - 2018. The Summer Learning Journey is a free blogging challenge for children year 1 - 8. The theme for this year is going back in time. This year we will be looking at the past of New Zealand and the early settling here.

Activity 2 With Ms Apelu (Planning Mrs Anderson's Holiday)

As usual last week we went to tech. We decorated our delicious chocolate logs with sprinkles, cherries and white chocolate. After tech we were invited to stay a bit longer to do a different activity. I was put in social science with Ms Apelu. My favourite part of social science was the second activity. The activity was to plan Mrs Anderson's next holiday. Because we used google earth we had to roll the dice and see where we landed. I landed in Lyon, France. So I had to find facts that would persuade Mrs Anderson to go to Lyon. Here is what I wrote so far...
Dear Mrs Anderson we have been researching different locations for your next holiday. We think you should go to Lyon in France. The first reason why we think you should go to Lyon is because they are the home of 14 Michelin star restaurants and is allegedly  known for having 22 of the best places to eat in FRANCE!! If the first reason why we think Lyon is the best did not persuade, did you know Fontaine Bartholdi, (which can be found in Lyon) was designed by the designer of the Statue of Liberty, Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. Another thing that will have to make you bust to go to Lyon is that Lyon’s Part-Dieu is currently the largest inner-city shopping centre in Europe. Also while you are in France you can visit your favourite shops in Paris.

I hope this persuades you Mrs Anderson.
