Maths with Ms Kirkpatrick is so fun. This week we had to convert our skills in ratio's to figure the answers to the challenging questions above. I personally found it easy but working with my group of 5 was the hardest part about finding the answers because you have to make sure everyone knows the answers and how you worked it out.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Ms Kirkpatrick and Mrs Anderson.

What Is Motivation?
The year is nearly over and the time has come for year 7's to decide who will be the new student leaders for Panmure Bridge School 2018. Before we nominate we need to know what a leader is and what qualities they possess. Yesterday we learnt about a key quality leaders show and that is motivation. Motivation is when you encourage someone to never give up. To show our learning we did a short play on how you can show motivation. All the plays showed what motivation is and how it can help people succeed. For our second activity we did a word art. In my word art there are words that either describe motivation, define it, synonyms of motivation, or simple phrases that you can say to people to boost their self-esteem. After this session I have learnt that motivation is very important for a leader to have and that the year 7's have a long way to go.

Balloon Pop Maths
Today we have done maths. It has been a very long time since we have last done maths. I don't really like maths but because we did fraction it was fun. Fractions are my favourite thing in Maths. Our warm up game was Balloon Pop math. I really enjoyed but when I first played I did not play correctly because I did not read the instructions. The photo above is my highest score and last time I checked I was coming sixth.

What Is Tooth Decay?
Mrs Anderson has been educating us on oral hygiene and has taught us some interesting and disgusting vocabulary. Oral hygiene is very important and we had to come up with a fun and creative way to get our message across Panmure Bridge School. Our idea was to create an animation. Daniel and I (Daniel's my partner) created an animation because our audience we targeted was room 5. Room 5 has year 3's so that is why we did not use hard words or disgusting images. Our animation is based on what is tooth decay? Tooth decay is a huge problem that is why we targeted it. Tooth decay can be avoided if you reduce your sugar intake or just brush your teeth twice a day.

Navigating Narratives - Feedback
Today we had a visitor who came in to have a look at what we have been doing during Reading. We had the choice of choosing a Reading method to show Mrs Cameron. (our visitors) So Daniel and I chose to show Mrs Cameron how we give each other feedback. To complete this DLO we read a book called Genesis by Bernard Beckett. We read the first chapter then we asked each other three questions. We then recorded the answers.

Manaiakalani Film Festival - 10th Anniversary
Yesterday the schools in the Tamaki area went to a huge event called the Manaiakalani Film Festival. The Manaiakalani Film Festival started exactly ten years ago with eleven movies to show. They were shown in the Tamaki College hall. Now there are 111 movies shown and they are shown at the Sylvia Park cinemas.
My favourite movie shown was LS1's movie 'I Got A Bad Feeling About This'. It was very creative and it very dramatic. I especially liked the different camera angles they used to make it more cinematic. It was a great day besides waiting forty minutes for the bus and then waiting again at the cinemas.

Badminton - Kiwi Sport Term 4
Today was fun, first we went to Kiwi Can. After morning tea it was time for Kiwi Sport with Kevin. Today we were learning how to keep a rally going using the forehand grip and backhand grip. I find using the backhand grip better for serving and forehand for hitting the shuttle. I really enjoy Badminton that is why this is my favourite Kiwi Sport this year.

Japanese Macaque
The animal we chose to write about had to start with the same letter as our first name. That is why I chose the Japanese Macaque.Japanese Macaque's are primates that inhabit Japan. There are two different types of Snow Monkeys (which is also a Japanese Macaque) One is slightly larger than the other. They are scattered all across Japan which have different climates. The Snow Monkey is a very interesting animal to research.

Food Tech With Mrs Heka
Oh my gosh!!! at tech, it was hectic. People running around like headless chickens and utensils flying from one side of the room to the other, but as usual we made some mouth watering food. Today we made chicken goujons. Ofa and I really had fun. The hardest thing was trying to flip the chicken with the tongs because the oil kept spitting at us. This was a crazy day but I can't wait for our next session with Mrs Heka.
