Chinese New Year
On the 16th of February the Chinese New Year began. Chinese New year is a big deal in Chinese communities all around the world. The Chinese New Year is a 15 day event that has many activities. They perform Chinese dancing, they have a feast and they release lanterns into the night sky. Apparently this holiday came about when a monster named Nian started attacking. Then an old wise man told them what he was afraid. He is afraid of loud noises, the colour red and fire. This is why now they celebrate their victory by doing what their ancestors did to scare away Nian. Click here for my collaborative explanation which was written by Joshua and I.
