What We Have Been Doing at Tech.
This orientation, group 8b have been chosen to partake in art with Mrs Telefoni. So far we have been carving, drawing, colouring, and inking. We firstly created a Google slide where we created symbols that meant a lot to us. After that we drew the symbols on blocks of wood. Next we carved them out. After that we inked them and then ran them through a newsprint machine. It was very interesting to learn about all these different techniques artists use. Thank you Tamaki College for inviting us to come and enjoy the tech experience.

Finding Angles
This week Ms Kirkpatrick has been teaching us about interior angles and how to find them. Today we have been looking at the interior angles of a triangle and angles on a straight line. Today I decided to show you how I got my answer to one of the angles on a straight line question. Firstly I did 57 + 52 which equals 109. Next I did 109 + = 180. After that I filled in the blank space which is also the missing angle on the question. The answer was 71. Lastly I did, 109 + 71 = 180

Duffy Books
Today we had two special visitors come into our school to talk about how reading was a huge asset to their successful careers. The two guests were Taylah Hodson-Tomokino, and Matt Johnson. Taylah is a four time national champion BMX rider and Matt Johnson was lucky enough to be asked to play for the under 20's Melbourne Storms. They shared their stories and how reading help them be the way they are today. They also gave out our Duffy books. I received Wipe Out & the Geronimo Stilton version of Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Thanks to Mainfreight for sponsoring these life changing books.

The Tunnel
Today I have finished my 5 - 7 - 10 writing about the tunnel. Before we wrote our setting descriptions, we learnt about all the different literary devices and how they make our writing more powerful. We also looked at mentor text that included all different pieces of literary devices. Then it was writing time. I really enjoy doing 5 - 7 - 10 writing because you can be creative and very enthusiastic. Click here for my piece of writing.

Stephen Hawkings
Unfortunately Stephen Hawking, a world renowned physicist, died on the 14th of March 2018. Sadly he had Motor Neuron Disease which meant he was not able to use his muscles. Our class decided to create a DLO about who he was and why he was famous. We wrote information about his contribution to science and how he had proved that not everything can fit in the black hole. We have focused on using our words to write sentences and also remembering to attributing the sites and photos we used.

Read Theory
Today I have improved in my Reading by using a useful site called Read Theory. It is a reading warm up our teachers use. This helps us know how consistent we are through reading. Today I have leveled up to grade 10. (The highest I've ever been) Read Theory will help me succeed in Reading.

Rounding Numbers With More Than Two Decimals
Today we have played a warm up game which is based on rounding up decimals that have more than two decimal places. This game was pretty challenging but I did not find it very fun to play. It helps with helping me with my decimals and all the rules that apply to decimals.

Levitating Chairs
Today Ms Kirkpatrick has taught us about juxtapositions and character descriptions. Juxtapositions are when you purposely contrast stereotypical things. e.g. you describe a pirate wearing a suit and owning a luxury boat. For our activity we were asked to write a twelve sentence story with a mix of sentence types and a lot of adjective describing our character. Above is the picture my story was based on. Click here for my story.

Learn, Create, Share
A couple of weeks ago the student leaders and other chosen students were asked to help Mrs Anderson with a creative project. It was to create our pedagogy 'Learn, Create, Share.' A pedagogy is a method of how students learn. At P.B.S. we also learn with and from each other. Sometimes it will be sore laying into our positions because some people had to crouch over. I have decided to use this as a C.A.R.E. award.
Read 3 Novels In A Term
This term I am focusing on making a start on my excellence and innovation and improving in my reading. So whats a better way than joining them together. I have decided to read three novels and then say what I think about each book. This term I chose to read, The Super Chef Contest, Magical Mission, and the BFG. The first to novels were written by Italian author Elisabetta Dami and the last one was written by one of the recognisable authors, Roald Dahl. I really enjoyed reading these books. They are all well written and are very creative.
Agent of Change - Jeremiah
What is an agent of change? An agent of a change is someone who transform problems into life changing opportunities. In LS2 we have been discussing what an agent of change is and how we can be an agent of change in our learning. I have decided I will come out of my comfort zone of learning and have an open mind about different strategies and methods. It is really tenacious but I will succeed because I will not give up.

Runaway Boy - 5 - 7 - 10 Writing
One warm summer night I woke up to a bang. Shattered glass laid at my feet. A black silhouette came through the fragmented window and started rummaging through my closet. I laid there with fear. I saw the thief creep into my parents bedroom. I leap to my feet, packed me some clothes and ran for the door. The thief turned his head and glared right at me. I swung open the door and ran. After a few hours of roaming through the forest, a formidable animal intently stared at me while slowly approaching me. I looked for an exit then I looked up at the trees that were swaying in the brisk wind. I jumped on the tree and climbed to safety. I sat upon the peak of the tree. As I sat there I found a large map. It was a map of my rural town. The mountains overlooked the town and the forest was huge. I climbed down from the tree and started following the map. I felt the presence of someone. I turned and someone was following me. Who was it? Why were they following me? What am I going to do?

Commenting on Karoro School
Today I have posted my first comment of quad blogging. This week we commented on Karoro school and I was given instructions to comment on Bryce's blog. I commented on an DLO about jeweled green gecko's. They are a species of lizard native to New Zealand. The DLO created by Bryce was informative and very well written.

Tech Reflection - W4
Today we have finished colouring in our symbols and now we are transferring them onto our blocks. We had to use yellow and white as our compulsory colours and I chose three other colours. It was hard to focus as other students were loud. I managed to get 3 out of 5 symbols on the block. It took me a while because they are all detailed and hard to draw. I am not good at art that is why I do not like art but it was fun with Mrs Telefoni.
