ASB - Get Wise

Today Jayden (an ASB representative) has came to talk to us about how to save our money and how it will benefit us in the future. To help us understand in an easier way we played a game which Jayden created a scenario where our groups went on a holiday in Fiji. Our budget was only $1,800 and we had to consider: passport, flights, accommodation, insurance, food, shopping, and activities. There was a range of choices with different prices and some would have a lesser value than the others. As our group decided to take the cheaper options we came 2nd but it was alright because we were not disqualified because we went beyond our budget. This taught us how to create a budget plan that will help us save up for something nice such as new shoes. The example that sticks in my mind is his coffee story. He explained that we can stop buying something we buy everyday such as coffee for a school week we can save $20 but treat our selves in the weekend. When we finish the school year we could save $800 which is quite a lot. This can be achieved by taking a non necessary treat out of your school week. Their motto is save some, spend some, and share some.
