"japanese" Method
L.I. To investigate the "Japanese" method of multiplication with Mr Ogilvie
This week I learnt a new and interesting way to do maths, it is called the "Japanese" method. In this presentation you will find Japanese character and how to use the Japanese method. The thing I found difficult was circling where the lines meet the hardest because your circles have to be on each one.

Hi Jeremiah, you and Miki have done a fantastic job on teaching others about the Japanese method of doing maths. I never even knew about this way of doing maths and you have explained it clearly so the reader can understand. Great Work!
ReplyDeleteExcellent resource to help teach other people this method. Having a good grounding in place value means you can then apply this strategy to any number. I would judge it does need a little more explanation on how it works, and why you move number in to those place values.
