La Jument - France

La Jument is a famous lighthouse on the western coast of France. La Jument is notably famous because of the photo taken by Jean Guichard (who was born in France in 1952). It was a series of photo's with an interesting story. The lighthouse keeper of that time (Théodore Malgorne) had to seek refuge in the lantern room due to the life threatening waves. Théodore called for help and was waiting for a rescue helicopter. When he heard a helicopter coming to save him he opened the door and started to wave at the helicopter but he was completely oblivious to the waves. When he saw the waves he went back inside. Luckily for him he was able to be saved through a different exit. Mr Johnston had a theory that when he arrived at shore he was fired because of his reckless actions. Above is a DLO explaining who the author is, a little bit of information about the lighthouse, and the story.
